Join us for a weekend long intensive in the practice of pranayama. In this course you will be introduced to various pranayamas in the context of asana practice and a sitting practice. Topics included over the weekend:
∂ Corrective breathing techniques (Partner work included)
∂ Working with the Bandhas
∂ Kriyas for clearing the mind and preparing for practice
∂ Introduction to Vayus
∂ Understading the Nadis
∂ Pranayama Practice
∂ Asana Practice (limited)
Pranayama is the formal practice of controlling the breath, which is the source of our prana, or vital life force. It is the 4th limb of the 8 limbs of Patanjali's Ashtanga (8 limb) yoga. During the course you will learn, practice and have first hand experience with building Prana "Life Energy" and how to consciously direct it in the body.
Why is it good for you?
Proper breathing not only support a healthy yoga practice but a healthy life. It reduces stress by stimulating the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PSNS) and increases the amount of oxygen in the blood while supporting with proper organ function.
What can you do after the teachers training?
You will be equipped with the tools to start a sustainable pranayama practice. In addition you will be able to identify incorrect breathing patterns and have the foundational tools to correct them and teach pranayama safely to beginners.
This course is appropriate for anyone in good health. You will get a first hand experience of working with the breath. Having a yoga background is beneficial but not necessary.
